Students turned up at their prom in a convoy with a difference last week. Eight classic Minis, provided by the Middlesex Mini Club, transported Year 11 pupils at Mellow Lane School, Hewens Road, Hayes to the event at the Master Brewer Motel in Long Lane, Hillingdon.
Alec Bryan, father of 16 year old Laura Bryan, is a member of the Mini Club and organised the cars after Laura had problems getting Hummer to take her and her friends to the prom.
Mr Bryan said:"We got a great reception when we turned up at the hotel. Laura had a great night and all her friends were really pleased. Because they are classic Minis, we always get a good reception and raise a smile whenever we drive anywhere."
He added that the sunny wheather on Thursday evening helped as the girls were able to get dressed up without worry of getting wet.
Mr Bryan said:"There was a party after the prom and some of the boys had a late night. Laura said some of them had gone to school on Friday in their suits. The girls went to school in their tiaras as well."
The prom marked the end of the pupils&undefined; last compulsory year at school.
